I am doing something different this year for National Novel Writing Month #NaNoWriMo. Not one but two non-fiction books on #autism, #PDA, and #RadiCool Unschooling. Follow them here.
A ‘cure’ for autism? For dyslexia? But at what cost? And WHO gets to decide? I think that X-Men: The Last Stand has much to say to the #neurodiversity movement.
A Twitter Friend has asked…Over the next two weeks we would like to hear how neurodiversity has positively impacted your life? This is my response.
Do we let our own expectations determine our #PDA child’s very future? It is never too late to change that. Embrace…#PrettyDamnedAwesome.
Some of the earliest work in #autism by Kanner and Bettelheim blamed #RefrigeratorMothers and #DistantFathers. Same for #homosexuality. You would think that in the 21st century the #science of #autism was beyond such irresponsibility. Unfortunately a recent discourse on Twitter with one of the few #ActuallyAutistic academicians in the field shows it is not. Is this beginning of another century of blame the parents? Child abuse witch hunts with an assumption of guilt until proven innocent by the ‘experts’? Another layer of investigation to the already challenging pathway to PDA diagnosis?
Life with Pathological Demand Avoidance…is NOT hard. It is as simple as 4 steps to happiness…for your little human and you!
